Over 80 elderly people from the local community, including those in care homes, assisted living and people living independently, all enjoyed an afternoon of fun and laughter at Abbey Wood Lodge’s Friendship Day Lunch in aid of Rainbow House.
It was a fantastic afternoon, full of dancing, food and entertainment, with the wonderful Phil Fryer performing his Frank Sinatra tribute. The event really gave residents, their family and friends the chance to enjoy themselves and get to know other members of the community all in aid of a good cause.
The proceeds from the afternoon went to Rainbow House, a charity which enhances the education, health and physical well-being of people with disabilities and their families.
We would like to thank everyone who came along and who helped out to make the event such a magical day.
“There was a smile on every face,” said Lesley Malone, Group Events Co-ordinator at the Athena Healthcare Group. “Its so wonderful to see our residents enjoying themselves and making friends with others in the community.
“We always strive to invite anyone who might be isolated within their homes to attend our friendship events so that they can join in the fun. It’s so important to give everyone that community connection so that they can keep enjoying every day to the fullest, whether they are in a care home, assisted living or independent housing.”
